Our Final Calculations for our Project 1.1.6 Compound Machine Design - VEX
First We built our lever, then we built out "tower" to hold our pulley system, and to get the ping pong ball to the 2ft. height, then we built our inclined plane to help the ball roll up to about 1ft high and then the force from the ball's acceleration will take it up the other 1ft.. We tested the system but the ball would not stay at the 2ft. height, so we modified it to have a catch on the top so the ball would stay there and also to keep the chain from falling off the track.

1. The pulley was the easiest because IMA= # of strands, which was 1.
2. Both the Lever and the inclined plane had similar calculations, both were IMA= De/Dr so they were equally as difficult. 3. NA 4. If we turned the lever around we would of had a better efficiency because there was a longer resistance distance then a effort distance. |
