This is debris from a secret soviet-navy satellite cosmos 945, the antennas each supported a compact nuclear reactor. it reentered on January 24, 1974 and shed its debris over the Canadian arctic.

This is debris from a Delta 2 third stage called a PAM-D (Payload assistance Module-Delta. it reentered the atmosphere over the middle east, its motor casing that weighed 154 pounds crashed into Saudi Arabia

On febuary 1st 2003, on its return to earth space shuttle colombia disintegrated on reentry, killing seven astronauts and thousands of shreds of debris across a 28,000 square mile radius around eastern texas.

The second biggest thing orbiting earth at its time, other than the moon, crashed into the pacific near fiji, it was 286,000 pounds on re-entry and most burned up. March 23, 2001.

1. Getting rid of space junk would cost millions of dollars and most countries are not willing to spend that kind of money on a problem that may or may not have an effect on daily life.
